Hamama, Daughter of the sea

I am Hamama Jarban, a fisherwoman who haslived in the sea since the age of three. Being my
father's companion on fishing trips, Iconstantly surprised people with my profession. Fishing for
over thirty years, I was born and raised inJisr Al-Zarqa, a Mediterranean coastal village, in a
family of ten. My father played a significantrole in shaping my character. My love for the sea
and my work in it compelled me to be differentand challenge conventions. Besides fishing, I
played for the Palestinian girls' nationalteam and became the first female football player in the
Arab community. Fishing wasn't my only goal; Ihad a larger vision. I co-founded the first surfing
school in the occupied Palestinian territorieswith my brother. Our journey was filled with
challenges, including the destruction of ourcottage by the occupying authorities. Despite the
hardships, I rebuilt it and continue to fightto keep it alive and filled with hope. These difficulties
won't deter me from achieving my goal: to seethe small cottage filled with children and
individuals with special needs from ourPalestinian Arab community. The desire to share
adventures and learning with others
