The artist Ahmad Ramadan, from KhanYunis and the owner of the "Ramadan Al-Barbarawi Museum" forPalestinian heritage and antiquities, found a unique way to confront realityafter the Israeli occupation destroyed his museum. This destruction caused himto lose many antique pieces he had spent his life collecting and preserving.Refusing to give up, Ahmad turned to sculpting on rocks, bringing back to lifewhat had been erased from Palestine’s heritage—such as historical buildings, castles, and churches from across Palestine.
As the war continued and sufferinggrew, Ahmad expanded his work to document stories of displacement, refugeecamps, warplanes, and other scenes from daily life under attack. He expressedthese experiences through artistic carvings and sculptures etched into stone.
Ahmad, a researcher of rock carvingsand a collector of Palestinian heritage, comes from a family forcibly displacedfrom the village of Barbara in 1948. He sees the rocks as silent witnesses toGaza’s reality under war, and to the history of the Palestinian people, whoface ongoing attempts to erase their identity
