The Tenderness of the Land

The tenderness of the land  is a long-term documentary photography project exploring the lives of farmers and their profound relationship with the land across diverse rural communities. The project stems from a personal curiosity to understand a bond that extends beyond agriculture as a profession, revealing the land as a source of identity, memory, and belonging, where knowledge, traditions, and values are passed from one generation to the next through everyday practice.

‏By accompanying farmers in their daily lives, the project documents the rhythm of agricultural work, the changing seasons, family relationships, farming tools, animals, and the spaces where people live and work. It focuses on quiet, often overlooked moments—hands shaped by labor, traces of fatigue, moments of waiting and rest, seasonal rituals, and the subtle interactions that reveal the mutual connection between people and the land.

‏Rather than portraying rural life through a romantic lens or documenting agriculture in its conventional sense, Intimate Lands seeks to build a visual archive that reflects life as it is lived. It gives space to the stories, experiences, and resilience of farming communities, while exploring how the land continues to shape people’s lives, and how, in return, people shape the land and preserve its memory across generations
