In this session, photojournalist Alaa Badarneh will share his experiences and insights from years of journalistic and fieldwork practice. The discussion will focus on ethical approaches to photography, ways of developing ethical practices, and navigating the challenges photographers face, particularly amid rapidly changing events and our evolving relationship with images.

The session will explore questions of responsibility, representation, and the role of photography in documenting reality, while also examining alternative approaches to visual storytelling.

About Alaa Badarneh

Alaa Badarneh is a photojournalist, photography educator, trainer, and jury member. He has worked since 2000 documenting daily life in Palestine and has contributed to the coverage and documentation of major news events for more than two decades.

He is a lecturer in photojournalism at Birzeit University and has served on the judging panels of numerous Arab and international photography competitions. He has also received several international distinctions and awards in photography and photojournalism.
