In one of the poor neighborhoods of Homs, Abu Mohammad lives on the rooftop of his home, where he has been raising pigeons and birds for many years, in a relationship that goes beyond trade to a deep care. The birds are his main source of income. He says, “I take food from my children’s mouths to feed these birds… and sometimes I sell the birds to feed my children.”
