“They’re like my sons and daughters…”

In a modest home in Al-Fawaghra, Nadia, 65, lives among dozens of cats—an unusual kind of family she built over time.

She was never able to have children, despite years of trying, treatment, and even attempts to adopt in different cities. With time, her life took a different shape.

Today, she relies on a small toy stand she started nearly 15 years ago to support herself.

Her connection to cats began in childhood, when her father brought her a small kitten she quickly grew attached to. Over the years, that bond only grew stronger, becoming a constant part of her life.

Today, she cares for dozens of cats between her home and her husband’s. She feeds them, takes the sick ones to the vet, and knows each one by name.

She says:

“I went everywhere… but it wasn’t meant to be. Maybe that’s why I stayed with the cats.”

But caring for them is no longer easy. With her income declining and her health worsening, she struggles to cover both her own needs and theirs.

Recently, she started sharing her life with them on TikTok… and some people began to support her.
